Getting Relief for your Jaw Pain and Tension
Let’s talk jaw goals
Getting from jaw pain and tension to balance and relief can seem like it’s an impossible journey. But if you are committed to the process, I’m your girl to help.
Here’s how I helped my client get from jaw deviation (unstable, side to side moving of the jaw upon opening and closing), mouth breathing and poor sleep
to correct tongue and jaw posture, nasal breathing and deeper sleep!
Assess jaw, face and tongue muscles
I took a deep dive into the history and where this patient was at functionally.
We found the jaw was moving to compensate for the tongue tie that was present. We also found habitual mouth breathing, weak facial muscles, low tongue posture and not feeling refreshed in the mornings as well as being tired throughout the day.
Game plan
We started with myofunctional therapy to stabilize the jaw, then strengthen these muscles .
From here, we were able to train the jaw to stay still with tongue movement, stop clenching and prevent soreness with normal function (like chewing).
As we did this, we worked on tongue exercises to be able to lightly suction the tongue to the palate at rest. This works to support our goals because this will help with maximizing the airway space, and stabilize the jaw at rest.
With a 6 month program and a tongue tie release, we were able to keep the jaw in a relaxed state. This is important as the tongue picks up the slack and supports proper rest posture! This in turn helped with the sleep quality because we were able to maintain nasal breathing overnight and fall into deeper sleep cycles.
I can help!
Imagine no longer avoiding certain foods, waking up with pain from clenching, less clicking and popping and your muscles feeling lighter.
This is exactly what I help my clients achieve.
Relief is closer than you think!
